I recently received permission from Mike Ching of Kula Software in Honolulu, Hawaii to make searchable .pdf conversions of all of his old 'Kula Index' Apple II magazine/newsletter article indexes.
Between 1980 and 1993, Mike painstakingly poured over the pages of a myriad of Apple II and other microcomputer magazines and newsletters in order to compile an index of various articles, software and hardware reviews, tips, question and answer columns and other Apple II-related miscellany.
Mike called his work product 'The Kula Index' and marketed and sold his information in AppleWorks database format on floppy disks.
As scans of the old Apple II publications make their way onto the internet, these indexes provide a fairly quick way when searching for something specific to narrow down the publication, issue and page number on which to look for the sought information.
Moreover, Mike has generously placed both his original Kula Index AppleWorks database index files and the attendant .pdf conversions in the public domain.
I've created a web page to both give some history of the Kula Index, and also to host the .pdf Kula Index conversions from ten different publications.
They are:
---------------------------------------------------------------
1. A+ Magazine (1985-1989)
2. Incider - Incider/A+ Magazine (1983-1993)
3. Call-A.P.P.L.E. Magazine (1985-1990)
4. Nibble Magazine (1983-1992)
5. Open-Apple - A2-Central Newsletter (1985-1992)
6. Scarlett - Big Red Computer Club Newsletter (1985-1992)
7. The Sourceror's Apprentice - 8/16 Newsletter (1989-1990)
8. II at Work (1989-1990)
9. Apple Assembly Line Newsletter (1985-1988)
10. The AppleWorks Educator (1986-1992)
Note that I am missing a few of the publications Mike indexed (e.g. Softalk, Creative Computing and II Alive) as well as some of the earlier years (and year 1993) from publications for which I do have the Kula Index.
As I obtain more original Kula Index files (Mike was quite prolific), I'll update the page to include more years and more publications.
If you have any of Kula Index files from publications or from years that are missing here, please contact me on this newsgroup.
